  1. Manage and oversee all operations and activities within the preclinical research laboratory.
  2. Ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the laboratory, including maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, and managing budgets.
  3. Develop and implement laboratory protocols and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  4. Train and supervise laboratory staff to ensure proper execution of experiments and procedures.
  5. Collaborate with researchers and other departments to plan and coordinate preclinical research projects.
  6. Maintain accurate records and data management systems to track research progress and results.
  7. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for all laboratory personnel.
  8. Stay updated on the latest advancements and techniques in preclinical research and implement them in the laboratory.
  9. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and budgets for preclinical research projects.
  10. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the laboratory and promote teamwork and open communication.
  11. Identify and troubleshoot any issues or challenges that may arise during research projects and propose solutions.
  12. Uphold the mission and values of the Massachusetts General Hospital in all aspects of the role.
  13. Represent the preclinical research laboratory in meetings and conferences, both internally and externally.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve laboratory processes and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity.
  15. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of research and data management.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Biology, Chemistry, Or Biomedical Sciences.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In A Preclinical Research Laboratory Setting, With Demonstrated Managerial Experience.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Regulations, Including Those Specific To Preclinical Research.

  • Excellent Organizational And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Oversee Multiple Ongoing Research Projects And Effectively Communicate With Researchers And Staff.

  • Familiarity With Research Equipment And Techniques Commonly Used In Preclinical Research, Such As Animal Handling And Tissue Culture.
