Job Description

Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Physician Advisor for our Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Program. The ideal candidate will be a board-certified physician in an applicable specialty with a minimum of three years of experience in an acute care setting. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about improving the quality of patient care and is committed to fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence. The Physician Advisor will be a vital member of our team, contributing to the overall success of the CDI Program. The successful candidate will possess exceptional analytic skills, a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, and the ability to work independently. In addition, the Physician Advisor should have a proven track record of successful CDI projects with a focus on accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to patient safety and quality of care, are also essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement clinical documentation improvement (CDI) strategies to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  2. Monitor the clinical documentation process to identify opportunities for improvement.
  3. Participate in interdepartmental meetings to review and educate on CDI initiatives.
  4. Analyze patient records and other data to identify potential areas for improvement in documentation processes and procedures.
  5. Provide guidance and support to medical staff regarding CDI best practices.
  6. Serve as a liaison between the hospital and outside stakeholders such as payers, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
  7. Develop and implement educational programs for medical staff on CDI best practices and standards.
  8. Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of clinical documentation in the electronic health record system.
  9. Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
  10. Collaborate with other departments to ensure the timely and accurate completion of all clinical documentation.
