Pathologists' Assistant

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is looking for an experienced Pathologists' Assistant to join our team. This position plays a critical role in providing support to our Pathology Lab by performing complex laboratory and administrative tasks. The Pathologists' Assistant will be responsible for a variety of duties, including preparing tissue samples for examination and analyzing results.To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in medical laboratory science or a related field. In addition to excellent lab skills, you must have excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Responsibilities of a Pathologists' Assistant:

• Prepare tissue samples for examination and analyze results.

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory tests and procedures.

• Assist in the preparation of laboratory specimens for shipment to other laboratories.

• Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.

• Monitor the quality of results, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.

• Manage the supply inventory, ensuring that all necessary items are available.

• Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment.

• Work closely with the Pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure efficient and accurate results.

• Remain up-to-date on the latest technologies and best practices in pathology.

• Provide assistance with research projects, as needed.

• Follow established safety and quality protocols.
