Job Description

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is looking for an experienced Pathologists' Assistant to join our team. This position plays a critical role in providing support to our Pathology Lab by performing complex laboratory and administrative tasks. The Pathologists' Assistant will be responsible for a variety of duties, including preparing tissue samples for examination and analyzing results.To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in medical laboratory science or a related field. In addition to excellent lab skills, you must have excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. You should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to work under pressure. Responsibilities of a Pathologists' Assistant:

• Prepare tissue samples for examination and analyze results.

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory tests and procedures.

• Assist in the preparation of laboratory specimens for shipment to other laboratories.

• Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.

• Monitor the quality of results, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.

• Manage the supply inventory, ensuring that all necessary items are available.

• Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment.

• Work closely with the Pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure efficient and accurate results.

• Remain up-to-date on the latest technologies and best practices in pathology.

• Provide assistance with research projects, as needed.

• Follow established safety and quality protocols.
