  1. Conduct thorough evaluations of patients with hand injuries or conditions to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  2. Develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on their specific needs and goals.
  3. Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, exercises, and modalities to improve hand function and mobility.
  4. Monitor and document patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  5. Educate patients and their families on proper hand therapy techniques and exercises for at-home care.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and physical therapists, to coordinate patient care.
  7. Stay up to date with current research and advancements in hand therapy to provide the most effective treatments.
  8. Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and documentation.
  9. Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care and treatment.
  10. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in patient care and treatment.
  11. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all infection control protocols.
  12. Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  13. Assist with the supervision and training of occupational therapy assistants and students.
  14. Exhibit a positive and professional attitude towards patients, colleagues, and hospital staff.
  15. Represent the hospital and department with integrity and professionalism at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Occupational Therapy: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Occupational Therapy From An Accredited University Is Required For This Position. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills In Anatomy, Physiology, And Kinesiology, As Well As The Foundations Of Occupational Therapy Practice.

  • Certified Hand Therapist (Cht) Certification: Candidates For This Position Should Have A Cht Certification From The Hand Therapy Certification Commission (Htcc). This Certification Demonstrates Advanced Knowledge And Competency In Hand Therapy, Making The Candidate A Highly Qualified Practitioner.

  • State Licensure: All Occupational Therapists Practicing In Massachusetts Must Be Licensed By The State. Candidates For This Position Should Have An Active Occupational Therapy License In Good Standing.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Hand Therapy: Massachusetts General Hospital Is Seeking Candidates With A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Hand Therapy. This Experience Should Include A Variety Of Diagnoses And Treatment Techniques, As Well As Experience With Custom Orthotics And Splinting.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As An Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapist At Massachusetts General Hospital, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Relationships And Providing Effective Care.
