- Provide expert vascular access care to patients, including insertion and maintenance of various vascular access devices.

- Monitor and assess patient responses to vascular access interventions and provide appropriate interventions as needed.

- Serve as a resource and mentor for other nurses and healthcare team members regarding vascular access procedures and best practices.
- Stay current with advancements and updates in vascular access technology and techniques through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Advocate for patient needs and rights, ensuring that all care is delivered with compassion, dignity, and respect.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and protocols related to vascular access care.

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: Candidates For The Nurse, Staff Vascular Access Position At Massachusetts General Hospital Should Possess A Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Degree From An Accredited Institution. This Degree Provides The Necessary Education And Training In The Field Of Nursing, Including Courses In Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, And Patient Care.
Current Rn License In The State Of Massachusetts: All Applicants Must Hold A Current And Unrestricted Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Massachusetts. This Ensures That Candidates Have Met The State's Requirements For Nursing Practice And Are Qualified To Provide Care To Patients.
Certification In Vascular Access: Candidates Should Have A Current Certification In Vascular Access, Such As A Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (Crni) Or A Certified Vascular Access Nurse (Cvan). This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Expertise In The Field Of Vascular Access And Ensures That The Nurse Is Up-To-Date On The Latest Techniques And Best Practices.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Vascular Access: Massachusetts General Hospital Requires Candidates To Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Vascular Access. This Experience Should Include Venipuncture, Central Line Insertion And Maintenance, And Peripheral Iv Insertion. Previous Experience In A Hospital Setting Is Preferred.
