- Oversee and lead a team of CRNAs in the Anesthesia department, providing guidance and support in their daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Ensure that all CRNAs are following hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines to provide safe and effective patient care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement anesthesia plans for patients.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia administration, making adjustments as needed to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical or medical procedures.
- Monitor and assess patient's vital signs and reactions to anesthesia, making necessary adjustments to maintain stability.
- Educate patients and their families about anesthesia procedures and potential risks.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient's medical history, anesthesia administration, and any complications.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in anesthesia techniques and equipment, implementing new practices as needed.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to other CRNAs, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Collaborate with hospital administration to develop and implement policies and protocols related to anesthesia services.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical standards in patient care and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings and trainings.
- Continuously evaluate and improve anesthesia processes to ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction.
Advanced Degree In Nursing: The First And Most Important Qualification For A Crna Lead At Massachusetts General Hospital Is To Have An Advanced Degree In Nursing, Specifically A Master Of Science In Nursing (Msn) With An Emphasis In Anesthesia.
Current Crna Certification: In Order To Be Considered For The Crna Lead Position, Candidates Must Hold A Current Certification As A Nurse Anesthetist. This Certification Is Obtained Through Passing The National Board Of Certification And Recertification For Nurse Anesthetists (Nbcrna) Exam.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience As A Crna: Massachusetts General Hospital Requires A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience As A Crna To Be Considered For The Lead Position. This Ensures That Candidates Have A Strong Foundation In Anesthesia Practice And Can Provide Effective Leadership To The Team.
