Job Description

The Coding Supervisor role at Massachusetts General Hospital is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a background in coding and compliance to lead a team and ensure the accuracy of our coding procedures. We seek an individual with strong organizational and communication skills who is committed to quality and accuracy in the coding process. The successful candidate will be a team leader with an eye for detail, a commitment to accuracy, and a passion for creating efficient processes. The required qualifications for this role include: a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, Health Informatics or related field; at least 5 years of experience in coding and compliance; experience with ICD-10 coding and classification; knowledge of CPT and HCPCS coding and classification; knowledge of medical office billing and reimbursement; and experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage a team of coders and ensure accuracy of coding procedures.
  2. Maintain and monitor procedures for coding, billing, and reimbursement.
  3. Monitor and ensure compliance with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding and classification.
  4. Develop and implement processes for efficient coding.
  5. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy and quality of coding.
  6. Educate and train coders on coding and compliance policies.
  7. Develop and maintain Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  8. Monitor coding trends and recommend adjustments to coding processes.
  9. Monitor and review coding reports for accuracy and efficiency.
  10. Analyze and interpret coding data for areas of improvement.
