- Perform cytogenetic tests and procedures accurately and efficiently, following established protocols and standards.
- Analyze and interpret genetic information, identifying abnormalities and potential implications for patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, and report any malfunctions or issues.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests and results, adhering to HIPAA regulations and laboratory policies.
- Collaborate with other members of the laboratory team, including pathologists and genetic counselors, to provide comprehensive and timely reports.
- Stay up-to-date on current industry practices and techniques, and implement new methodologies as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing support and education about genetic testing and results.
- Assist with quality control and assurance measures, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
- Participate in departmental and hospital-wide meetings and initiatives, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science, Cytogenetics, Molecular Biology, Or A Related Field.
Certification As A Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Cls) Or Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls) Through A Recognized Accrediting Agency, Such As Ascp Or Amt.
Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Cytogenetics Laboratory, Preferably In A Hospital Or Research Setting.
Knowledge And Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures, Equipment, And Quality Control Measures Specific To Cytogenetics Testing.
Ability To Accurately Interpret And Analyze Cytogenetic Results And Troubleshoot Technical Issues As Needed.
