If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Tumor Registrar - ONC Oncology at Mainehealth.As a Tumor Registrar, you will play a crucial role in accurately documenting and tracking cancer cases, ensuring compliance with state and national reporting standards. Your work will directly impact the quality of care and treatment for cancer patients, making a positive difference in their lives.To excel in this role, you must have a certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) and at least 1 year of experience in oncology data management.   1. Accurately document and track cancer cases to ensure compliance with state and national reporting standards.
  2. Utilize expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to code and classify cancer cases.
  3. Review and analyze medical records to identify and extract relevant data for cancer registry.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare teams to obtain necessary information for cancer registry.
  5. Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  6. Communicate with healthcare providers to ensure accuracy and completeness of cancer data.
  7. Ensure timely and accurate submission of cancer data to state and national databases.
  8. Stay up-to-date on changes in cancer reporting standards and regulations.
  9. Work closely with cancer patients and their families to provide support and assistance in navigating the healthcare system.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve cancer data collection and reporting.
  11. Train and educate healthcare staff on proper cancer data collection and reporting procedures.
  12. Conduct audits to ensure compliance with cancer reporting standards and identify areas for improvement.
  13. Maintain accurate and organized cancer registry records and databases.
  14. Serve as a resource for healthcare providers and colleagues on cancer data management and reporting.
  15. Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards cancer patients and their families.
  16. Attend workshops, conferences, and trainings to stay updated on advancements in cancer data management.
  17. Collaborate with other tumor registrars and cancer registry organizations to share knowledge and best practices.
  18. Assist in research projects related to cancer data and contribute to publications and presentations.
  19. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions with patients and healthcare providers.
  20. Support the mission and goals of Mainehealth by providing accurate and comprehensive cancer data to improve patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Tumor Registrar (Ctr) Credential From The National Cancer Registrars Association (Ncra).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In An Oncology-Related Field, Preferably In A Hospital Or Cancer Center Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Cancer Registry Operations, Including Data Collection, Abstracting, Coding, And Reporting.

  • Familiarity With Current Standards And Guidelines For Cancer Data Collection, Such As The North American Association Of Central Cancer Registries (Naaccr) And American College Of Surgeons Commission On Cancer (Coc) Standards.

  • Proficiency In Electronic Medical Record Systems And Cancer Registry Software, Such As Coc's National Cancer Data Base (Ncdb) And The Surveillance, Epidemiology, And End Results (Seer) Program.
