Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our General Surgery team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a crucial role in assisting our surgeons and nurses during a variety of surgical procedures.   1. Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures by preparing and sterilizing equipment, passing instruments, and performing other tasks as needed.
  2. Ensure the safety and comfort of patients by positioning them correctly on the operating table, monitoring vital signs, and providing emotional support.
  3. Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room by following proper infection control protocols and handling instruments and supplies appropriately.
  4. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in working order.
  5. Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists, to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  6. Document and maintain accurate records of procedures, supplies used, and patient information.
  7. Participate in the training and orientation of new surgical technologists and other healthcare staff.
  8. Continuously update and maintain knowledge and skills through ongoing education and training opportunities.
  9. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, to ensure the highest level of patient safety and quality of care.
  10. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  11. Maintain a professional and compassionate attitude towards patients, families, and coworkers.
  12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new processes and procedures.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and abide by all HIPAA regulations.
  14. Keep work area clean and organized, and assist with restocking and ordering supplies.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the surgical team or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Accredited Education And Certification: A Successful Candidate For A Surgical Technologist - General Surgery Job At Mainehealth Should Hold A Degree From An Accredited Surgical Technology Program And Have Current Certification From The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa).

  • Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Surgical Procedures, Including General Surgery Techniques, Equipment, And Instruments.

  • Experience In A Clinical Setting: Prior Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Surgical Environment, Is Essential For This Role. This Experience Should Include Assisting With Surgical Procedures, Sterilization Techniques, And Infection Control Protocols.

  • Attention To Detail And Ability To Multitask: Surgical Technologists Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Multitask In A Fast-Paced Environment. They Should Also Be Able To Anticipate The Needs Of The Surgeon And Have The Ability To Prioritize Tasks Accordingly.

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: Collaboration And Effective Communication Are Crucial In The Operating Room. A Successful Candidate Should Be Able To Work Well With Others, Have Strong Interpersonal Skills, And Be A Team Player.
