- Provide individualized academic and behavioral support to students with diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with a team of educators to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students and their families.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of student progress and interventions.
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and other team members regarding student needs and progress.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and materials to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Monitor and track student progress, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure academic and behavioral success.
- Work closely with special education teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for students.
- Attend professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.
- Collaborate with community resources and outside agencies to provide additional support for students and families.
- Act as an advocate for students with special needs, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and compassion while working with students.
- Adhere to all state and federal laws and regulations regarding special education.

Bachelor's Degree In Special Education Or A Related Field: Candidates For A Special Education Technician Job At Mainehealth Should Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Special Education, Education, Or A Related Field. This Demonstrates A Strong Foundation In Special Education Principles And Practices.
Experience Working With Children With Special Needs: Mainehealth Is Looking For Candidates Who Have Experience Working With Children With Special Needs. This Can Include Experience In A Classroom Setting, As A Tutor, Or In A Related Field Such As Counseling Or Social Work.
Knowledge Of Special Education Laws And Regulations: Special Education Technicians At Mainehealth Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Special Education Laws And Regulations At The State And Federal Level. This Includes Knowledge Of Individualized Education Plans (Ieps), The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (Idea), And Section 504 Of The Rehabilitation Act.
Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Team: Special Education Technicians At Mainehealth Work Closely With Teachers, Therapists, And Other Professionals To Support Students With Special Needs. Candidates Should Have Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills To Effectively Work As Part Of A Team.
Patience And Empathy: Working With Children With Special Needs Requires A High Level Of Patience And Empathy. Candidates For This Role Should Have A Genuine Desire To Support And Advocate For Students With Special Needs, And Be Able To Remain Calm And Patient In Challenging Situations.
