- Provide respiratory care services to patients in accordance with established protocols and standards.
- Conduct patient assessments, including physical examinations and diagnostic tests, to determine the appropriate treatment plan.
- Administer respiratory treatments and therapies, such as oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and chest physiotherapy.
- Monitor and evaluate patient response to treatments and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory health and disease management.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and documentation.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Stay current on advancements in respiratory care and participate in continuing education opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support to respiratory therapy students and other healthcare staff.
- Assist with the maintenance and calibration of respiratory equipment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with developing and implementing new policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure quality care and patient satisfaction.
- Adhere to ethical and legal principles and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy Or Related Field: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Solid Foundation In Respiratory Therapy Principles And Techniques.
Current State Licensure: All Candidates Must Hold A Valid And Current State License As A Respiratory Therapist. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met All Necessary Requirements To Practice In The State Of Maine.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) Certification: Candidates Should Possess A Registered Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) Certification From The National Board For Respiratory Care (Nbrc). This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Passed A Rigorous Examination And Is Competent In All Areas Of Respiratory Therapy.
Experience In Acute Care Setting: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In An Acute Care Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Handle High-Stress Situations And Work Effectively In A Fast-Paced Environment.
Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For A Respiratory Therapist, As They Will Be Working Closely With Patients And A Multidisciplinary Healthcare Team.
