  1. Provide compassionate and dedicated nursing care to patients in the medical/surgical unit.
  2. Utilize strong clinical skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  3. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  4. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians and monitor their effectiveness.
  5. Monitor and document patient progress and respond promptly to changes in their condition.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  7. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  8. Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
  9. Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
  10. Participate in unit and hospital-wide initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes.
  11. Attend required trainings and educational programs to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  12. Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  13. Provide emotional support and empathy to patients and their families during difficult times.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Maine: This Is A Critical Requirement For Any Nursing Job And Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Necessary Educational And Training Requirements To Practice As A Nurse In Maine.

  • Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Degree: A Bsn Degree Is Preferred By Mainehealth For This Position As It Provides A More Comprehensive Understanding Of Nursing Practice And Patient Care.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Medical/Surgical Nursing: Mainehealth Requires Candidates To Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience In A Medical/Surgical Setting To Ensure They Have The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Handle Diverse Patient Populations.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: All Mainehealth Nurses Are Required To Have A Current Bls Certification To Ensure They Are Equipped To Respond To Emergency Situations And Provide Initial Life-Saving Interventions.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Medical/Surgical Nurse, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Collaborating With The Healthcare Team And Communicating With Patients And Their Families. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role.
