
PICU Child Life Specialist

Mainehealth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate PICU Child Life Specialist to join our team. As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing emotional support, therapeutic activities, and education to pediatric patients and their families in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Our ideal candidate is a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong background in child life and a desire to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate interventions and activities for children and families in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
- Provide emotional support and therapeutic interventions for pediatric patients and their families, including coping strategies and support for anxiety and stress.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
- Conduct assessments of patients and their families to determine specific needs and develop individualized plans of care.
- Educate and empower patients and families about medical procedures and equipment, and provide resources for continued support.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of interventions, assessments, and progress.
- Advocate for the needs of pediatric patients and their families within the healthcare system.
- Stay current on best practices and advancements in child life and pediatric healthcare.
- Serve as a resource and provide support to other healthcare team members in understanding child development and pediatric needs.
- Provide guidance and support to families during end-of-life or difficult medical situations.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field
Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Child Life Council
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working In A Pediatric Setting, Preferably In A Picu
Knowledge Of Child Development, Family Dynamics, And Coping Strategies For Children In Medical Settings
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Support To Families In Crisis.
