- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to patients within the hospital setting.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Manage and monitor the medical conditions of hospitalized patients, including conducting regular rounds and ordering appropriate tests and medications.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to educate them on their medical conditions and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Participate in hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
- Stay up-to-date on current medical practices and advancements in the field of internal medicine.
- Act as a resource for other healthcare team members, including nurses, physician assistants, and residents.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Foster a culture of compassion, empathy, and respect within the hospital.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers and specialists to ensure continuity of care for patients.
- Assist in training and mentoring medical students and residents.
- Maintain a valid and active medical license in the state of Maine.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuously improving and advancing in the field of internal medicine.
Medical Degree: A Physician - Hospitalist At Mainehealth Must Possess A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.
Board Certification: Candidates Must Be Board Certified In Internal Medicine Or A Related Specialty Such As Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Or Emergency Medicine.
Residency Training: A Minimum Of 3 Years Of Residency Training In Internal Medicine Is Required, With Additional Training In Hospital Medicine Preferred.
State Licensure: Candidates Must Hold An Active And Unrestricted Medical License In The State Of Maine. If Licensed In Another State, Candidates Must Be Willing To Obtain A Maine Medical License.
Experience: At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience As A Hospitalist Or In A Related Field Such As Primary Care Is Preferred. Previous Experience Working In A Hospital Setting And Managing Complex Medical Cases Is Highly Desirable.
