  1. Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to patients within the hospital setting.
  2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
  3. Manage and monitor the medical conditions of hospitalized patients, including conducting regular rounds and ordering appropriate tests and medications.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients and their families to educate them on their medical conditions and treatment options.
  5. Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
  6. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
  7. Participate in hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  8. Stay up-to-date on current medical practices and advancements in the field of internal medicine.
  9. Act as a resource for other healthcare team members, including nurses, physician assistants, and residents.
  10. Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice and maintain patient confidentiality.
  11. Foster a culture of compassion, empathy, and respect within the hospital.
  12. Collaborate with other healthcare providers and specialists to ensure continuity of care for patients.
  13. Assist in training and mentoring medical students and residents.
  14. Maintain a valid and active medical license in the state of Maine.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to continuously improving and advancing in the field of internal medicine.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree: A Physician - Hospitalist At Mainehealth Must Possess A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.

  • Board Certification: Candidates Must Be Board Certified In Internal Medicine Or A Related Specialty Such As Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Or Emergency Medicine.

  • Residency Training: A Minimum Of 3 Years Of Residency Training In Internal Medicine Is Required, With Additional Training In Hospital Medicine Preferred.

  • State Licensure: Candidates Must Hold An Active And Unrestricted Medical License In The State Of Maine. If Licensed In Another State, Candidates Must Be Willing To Obtain A Maine Medical License.

  • Experience: At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience As A Hospitalist Or In A Related Field Such As Primary Care Is Preferred. Previous Experience Working In A Hospital Setting And Managing Complex Medical Cases Is Highly Desirable.
