  1. Conduct thorough patient assessments to accurately diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients with neurological conditions.
  2. Collaborate with neurosurgeons to assist in surgical procedures and provide post-operative care.
  3. Monitor and manage patients' conditions, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and providing patient education.
  4. Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medication records.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide education and support regarding their condition and treatment.
  6. Stay up-to-date on current research and advancements in the field of neurosurgery to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.
  7. Adhere to all legal and ethical standards, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
  8. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate and provide comprehensive care for patients.
  9. Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  10. Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care and satisfaction, as well as the mission and values of Mainehealth.
  11. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, both with patients and colleagues.
  12. Provide support and guidance to other healthcare staff, including nurses and medical assistants.
  13. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures within the neurosurgery department.
  15. Represent Mainehealth and the neurosurgery department in a positive manner to patients, families, and the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree From An Accredited Physician Assistant Program.

  • Current Certification As A Physician Assistant By The National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants (Nccpa).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Neurosurgery Or A Related Field.

  • Active State License To Practice As A Physician Assistant In Maine.

  • Demonstrated Knowledge And Experience In Diagnosing And Treating Neurological Conditions, As Well As Performing Surgical Procedures Under The Supervision Of A Neurosurgeon.
