  • Greet and welcome patients and their families to the pediatric specialty care facility with a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Provide administrative support to the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and other medical staff.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar for the pediatric specialty care facility.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct calls to the appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, insurance information, and contact information.
  • Collect and process patient payments and insurance information.
  • Coordinate patient referrals and follow-up appointments with other healthcare facilities.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate with patients and their families to ensure a positive and comfortable experience at the pediatric specialty care facility.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Uphold confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in healthcare regulations and policies related to the pediatric specialty care facility.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the healthcare team.

  • Knowledge Of Pediatric Medical Terminology: A Medical Secretary In A Pediatric Specialty Care Setting Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Specific To The Field Of Pediatrics. This Includes Knowledge Of Common Conditions, Treatments, And Procedures Related To Pediatric Care.

  • Proficient In Electronic Medical Records (Emr) Systems: With The Increasing Use Of Electronic Medical Records, It Is Essential For A Medical Secretary To Be Proficient In Using Emr Systems. This Includes The Ability To Accurately Input Patient Information, Schedule Appointments, And Manage Medical Records.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Vital In A Pediatric Specialty Care Setting, As Medical Secretaries Will Be Interacting With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Providers On A Daily Basis. Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For Conveying Important Information And Providing Exceptional Customer Service.

  • Organizational Skills: In A Fast-Paced Medical Environment, A Medical Secretary Must Be Highly Organized And Able To Multitask Effectively. This Includes Managing Appointment Schedules, Maintaining Patient Records, And Coordinating With Other Healthcare Professionals.

  • Experience In Medical Billing And Coding: Knowledge Of Medical Billing And Coding Is A Critical Qualification For A Medical Secretary In A Pediatric Specialty Care Setting. This Includes Understanding Insurance Policies, Coding Procedures, And Being Able To Accurately Process And Submit Claims. Experience With Pediatric Billing And Coding Is Preferred.
