  1. Oversee a team of phlebotomists and provide guidance, training, and support in their daily responsibilities.
  2. Ensure the accurate and efficient collection of blood specimens from patients.
  3. Monitor and maintain the quality and safety of all phlebotomy procedures and equipment.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate delivery of test results.
  5. Develop and implement standard operating procedures and protocols for phlebotomy services.
  6. Maintain and update records of phlebotomy procedures, patient information, and inventory.
  7. Train new phlebotomists on proper techniques, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
  8. Perform regular evaluations of staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  9. Stay updated on industry developments and best practices in phlebotomy techniques and equipment.
  10. Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and excellent patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: A Lead Phlebotomist At Mainehealth Must Have A Valid Phlebotomy Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The National Healthcareer Association (Nha) Or The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).

  • Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist, With A Demonstrated Track Record Of Success In A Leadership Role.

  • Knowledge Of Regulations: The Lead Phlebotomist Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of State And Federal Regulations Related To Phlebotomy, Including Osha Guidelines, Clia Standards, And Hipaa Regulations.

  • Leadership Skills: This Role Requires Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Train And Mentor Junior Phlebotomists, Manage Schedules, And Maintain A Positive And Collaborative Team Environment.

  • Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Crucial In This Role, As The Lead Phlebotomist Will Be Responsible For Communicating With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team. Strong Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are Essential To Ensure Accurate And Timely Collection And Processing Of Specimens.
