Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct accurate and timely electrocardiogram tests on patients, following established protocols and procedures.
  2. Monitor patient vital signs and ensure proper positioning for ECG testing.
  3. Recognize and troubleshoot technical issues with equipment and escalate to appropriate personnel.
  4. Maintain accurate and organized records of patient information and test results.
  5. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate test results.
  6. Educate patients on the ECG testing process and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
  7. Adhere to safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe and clean testing environment.
  8. Assist with the maintenance and calibration of ECG equipment.
  9. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in ECG testing techniques and equipment.
  10. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  11. Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  12. Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  13. Attend trainings and continuing education opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  14. Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and standards of ethics.
  15. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with patients and colleagues.

Job Qualifications
  • Formal Education And Training: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required, With Preference Given To Candidates Who Have Completed A Formal Ecg/Ekg Technician Training Program. Relevant Courses In Anatomy, Physiology, And Medical Terminology Are Also Desirable.

  • Certification: Candidates Should Possess A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society Of Phlebotomy Technicians (Aspt) Or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (Cci). This Demonstrates A Strong Understanding Of Ecg Principles And Techniques.

  • Clinical Experience: Prior Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Particularly In Cardiology, Is Highly Preferred. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Familiar With Medical Terminology, Patient Care, And Can Operate Ecg Equipment Accurately.

  • Knowledge Of Ecg Equipment: A Thorough Understanding Of The Different Types Of Ecg Machines, Their Functions, And How To Troubleshoot Technical Issues Is Essential For This Role. Candidates Should Also Be Proficient In Using Computer Software Programs For Ecg Analysis And Interpretation.

  • Attention To Detail: Ecg/Ekg Technicians Must Be Detail-Oriented And Have Excellent Observation Skills To Accurately Record And Analyze Ecg Data. They Must Also Be Able To Identify Abnormalities And Communicate Them To The Healthcare Team Promptly. Strong Communication Skills And The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment Are Also Important Qualifications For This Role.
