
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)- Long Term Care

- Provide personalized care to residents in accordance with their individual care plans.
- Help residents maintain their independence and dignity by promoting self-care and assisting with daily living activities.
- Monitor and report any changes in residents' physical, mental, or emotional well-being to the nursing staff.
- Assist with the administration of medication, as directed by the nursing staff.
- Assist with the maintenance of a clean and safe environment for residents, including infection control measures.
- Document all care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure the best possible care for residents.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor at all times while interacting with residents, families, and visitors.
- Attend training and educational opportunities to stay current on best practices and regulations related to long-term care.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations, to maintain the confidentiality of resident information.
- Promote a positive and welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and colleagues to ensure a smooth flow of information.
- Participate in resident care conferences and provide input on resident care plans.
- Assist with the transfer, transport, and positioning of residents as needed.
- Adhere to all safety and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of residents and staff.
Completion Of A State-Approved Cna Training Program: A Cna Must Have Completed A State-Approved Training Program That Includes Both Classroom Instruction And Hands-On Clinical Experience.
Current Cna Certification: A Cna Must Hold A Current Certification In The State Of Maine. This Certification Must Be Maintained Through Continuing Education And Renewal Every Two Years.
Experience In Long Term Care: Ideally, A Cna Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Long Term Care Facility. This Experience Will Ensure They Have A Strong Understanding Of The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Caring For Elderly Or Chronically Ill Patients.
Knowledge Of Patient Care Procedures: Cnas Should Be Familiar With Basic Patient Care Procedures Such As Taking Vital Signs, Assisting With Activities Of Daily Living, And Managing Patient Hygiene. This Knowledge Can Be Gained Through Training And/Or Previous Work Experience.
Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Crucial In A Long Term Care Setting, Where Cnas May Need To Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Essential For Success In This Role.
