Job Description

MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Unit Safety Assistant for our Behavioral Health unit. In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients and staff.   1. Monitor and ensure the safety and security of patients and staff in the Behavioral Health unit.
  2. Conduct safety assessments and identify potential hazards or risks within the unit.
  3. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement safety protocols and procedures.
  4. Provide support and assistance to patients in crisis situations, utilizing de-escalation techniques as necessary.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all safety-related incidents and interventions.
  6. Serve as a resource for staff on safety and security issues, providing training and education as needed.
  7. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and staff to address safety concerns and provide reassurance and support.
  8. Adhere to all state and federal regulations and guidelines related to patient safety.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continuously improve the safety of the unit.
  10. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with patients and their personal information.
  11. Stay updated on current behavioral health trends and best practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  12. Demonstrate a compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families.
  13. Act as a role model for professional behavior and maintain a positive and respectful work environment.
  14. Report any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities and follow through with necessary actions.
  15. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and trainings related to safety and behavioral health.
  16. Collaborate with other departments and organizations to promote a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
  17. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and maintain a high level of compliance with regulatory standards.
  18. Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional growth and development in the field of behavioral health.
  19. Foster a culture of safety and accountability within the unit and the organization as a whole.
  20. Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the unit manager or supervisor.
