
Speech Therapist (SLP) - Outpatient

- Provide high-quality speech therapy services to patients in the outpatient department.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' speech and swallowing abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patients' needs and goals.
- Implement evidence-based therapy techniques to improve patients' communication and swallowing skills.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and treatment plans.
- Educate patients and their families on speech therapy techniques and strategies to continue progress outside of therapy sessions.
- Monitor and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure positive outcomes.
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards in all aspects of job duties.
- Stay updated on industry developments and advancements in speech therapy techniques.
- Serve as an advocate for patients and their needs within the healthcare system.
- Participate in departmental meetings and trainings to enhance skills and knowledge.

- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology Is Required For This Position. This Degree Should Be From An Accredited Program And Should Include Coursework In Speech And Language Disorders, Anatomy And Physiology Of Speech And Hearing Mechanisms, And Clinical Practicum Experience.
Certificate Of Clinical Competence (Ccc) From Asha: Mainegeneral Health Requires All Speech Therapists To Hold A Certificate Of Clinical Competence (Ccc) From The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Asha). This Certification Demonstrates That The Slp Has Met Rigorous Academic And Clinical Standards And Is Able To Provide High-Quality Care To Patients.
State Licensure: All Speech Therapists At Mainegeneral Health Must Hold A Current License To Practice As A Speech-Language Pathologist In The State Of Maine. This License Is Obtained By Meeting Specific Education And Clinical Experience Requirements And Passing A National Certification Exam.
Experience In Outpatient Or Ambulatory Care Setting: Candidates For This Position Should Have Previous Experience Working In An Outpatient Or Ambulatory Care Setting. This Experience Should Include Evaluating And Treating A Wide Range Of Speech And Language Disorders, As Well As Collaborating With Other Healthcare Professionals To Develop Comprehensive Treatment Plans.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Speech Therapist At Mainegeneral Health, Effective Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential. The Slp Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals, And Should Be Able To Build Strong Relationships With Colleagues And Patients Alike.
