- Perform blood draws and collect other specimens from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all specimens collected and testing performed.
- Follow all safety and infection control procedures to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate any fears or concerns and provide a positive patient experience.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to ensure timely and accurate test results.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to all quality control and quality assurance standards to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Continuously update and enhance knowledge of phlebotomy and laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families, addressing any questions or concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Participate in departmental meetings and trainings as required.
- Follow all HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines to protect patient privacy.

Completed Accredited Phlebotomy Program: Candidates Should Have Completed An Accredited Phlebotomy Program, Which Includes Coursework And Hands-On Training In Specimen Collection And Processing.
Certification/Licensure: Mainegeneral Health May Require Candidates To Hold A Current Certification Or License In Phlebotomy, Such As The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Cpt) Or Medical Laboratory Assistant (Mla) Certification.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Phlebotomist/Medical Lab Assistant, As They Will Be Responsible For Labeling And Handling Specimens Correctly.
Experience With Medical Equipment: Candidates Should Have Experience Using And Maintaining Medical Equipment, Such As Centrifuges, Microscopes, And Blood Collection Tubes.
