
Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner
MaineGeneral Health is searching for an experienced and compassionate Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you’ll provide advanced nursing care to patients with cancer and other oncology-related illnesses. You’ll have the opportunity to develop relationships with patients and their families, while providing professional and compassionate care. We’re looking for an individual who has a passion for oncology, is committed to providing high quality care, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.To be successful in this role, you must have a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with an emphasis in Adult/Family Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in oncology, as well as a valid state RN license, current certification as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with prescriptive authority, and certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN). A minimum of two years of experience working with adult oncology patients as an advanced practice nurse is also required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced nursing care to patients with cancer and other oncology-related illnesses.
- Develop relationships with patients and their families, while providing professional and compassionate care.
- Assess and diagnose patients to determine necessary treatments.
- Formulate care plans to meet the needs of the patient.
- Educate patients and families about treatments and procedures.
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy and other treatments.
- Monitor patient progress and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
- Maintain patient records and document treatment plans.
- Participate in professional development activities and stay up-to-date with oncology best practices.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology
Current Maine Rn License
Master's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field
Certification As A Nurse Practitioner From A Nationally Recognized Certifying Body
Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience In A Medical Oncology Setting
