Medical Assistant (MA) - Dermatology

We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Dermatology team. As an MA, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our dermatologists to provide high-quality care to patients with various skin conditions. - Greet and welcome patients to the dermatology department with a friendly and compassionate demeanor.
- Assist dermatologists in performing procedures and treatments, such as skin exams, biopsies, and minor surgeries.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are stocked and readily available.
- Take accurate patient medical histories and record vital signs.
- Educate patients on proper skin care and treatment plans as directed by the dermatologist.
- Schedule patient appointments and follow up on missed appointments.
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with insurance verifications and obtaining prior authorizations.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic medical record systems.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in the department to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on dermatology procedures, treatments, and best practices.
- Handle administrative tasks, such as filing, faxing, and processing paperwork.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of MaineGeneral Health in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and the community.
Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: Candidates For This Position Must Have Completed An Accredited Medical Assistant Program, Which Covers Topics Such As Medical Terminology, Anatomy And Physiology, Clinical Procedures, And Pharmacology.
Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Credential: Having A Cma Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met The Rigorous Standards Of The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama) And Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of A Medical Assistant.
Experience In A Dermatology Setting: Candidates With Previous Experience Working As A Medical Assistant In A Dermatology Clinic Will Be Highly Preferred. This Experience Will Demonstrate Their Understanding Of Dermatological Procedures, Terminology, And Patient Care In This Specialized Field.
Proficiency In Electronic Medical Records (Emr) Systems: Mainegeneral Health Utilizes Electronic Medical Record Systems, And Therefore, Candidates Must Have Experience And Proficiency In Using Emrs. This Includes Documenting Patient Information Accurately, Scheduling Appointments, And Managing Medical Records.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Medical Assistant At Mainegeneral Health, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Dermatologists, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Crucial For Building Rapport With Patients And Maintaining A Positive Work Environment.
