MaineGeneral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Infectious Disease team. In this role, you will work alongside our physicians and nurses to provide exceptional care to patients with infectious diseases.   1. Conduct patient intake and assist with medical history, vital signs, and other diagnostic procedures as directed by physicians.
  2. Prepare exam rooms for patient visits and ensure they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
  3. Assist physicians and nurses in the examination and treatment of patients, including administering medications and injections.
  4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documenting medical history, medications, and treatment plans.
  5. Educate patients about infectious diseases, treatment plans, and preventative measures.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  7. Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  8. Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and managing patient referrals.
  9. Collaborate with the infectious disease team to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current developments and research in the field of infectious diseases.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  12. Provide support and assistance to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  13. Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for improving patient care and workflow.
  14. Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional growth and development.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification As A Medical Assistant From An Accredited Program.

  • Prior Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Infectious Disease.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Infectious Diseases And Proper Infection Control Protocols.

  • Ability To Multitask And Work Efficiently In A Fast-Paced And Potentially High-Stress Environment.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Other Staff Members.
