We are currently seeking a Long Term Care Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our team at Gray Birch, our long-term care facility. This position is for 36 hours per week, with shifts from 7pm to 7am. As a Long Term Care Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of our residents. We are looking for a skilled and caring individual to be a part of our dynamic team. - Provide high-quality and compassionate care to residents at Gray Birch, our long-term care facility.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and assess residents' health and well-being on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to create and update care plans for residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Document and maintain accurate records of residents' health status and care provided.
- Respond to emergencies and provide necessary interventions in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Stay updated on best practices and industry standards in long-term care nursing.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and educational opportunities.
- Serve as a patient advocate and ensure residents' rights are respected.

- Maintain confidentiality of residents' personal and medical information.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to residents and their families.
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations and guidelines related to long-term care nursing.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote a positive and comfortable environment for residents.
- Assist with discharge planning and coordination of care with other healthcare facilities.
- Identify and report any changes in residents' conditions to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a professional and caring demeanor at all times while interacting with residents, families, and colleagues.
Active Rn Or Lpn License In The State Of Maine - The First And Most Important Qualification For A Long Term Care Nurse At Mainegeneral Health Is An Active And Unrestricted Rn Or Lpn License In The State Of Maine. This Ensures That The Nurse Has Met All Necessary Education And Training Requirements And Is Legally Authorized To Practice Nursing In The State.
Experience In Long Term Care Or Geriatric Nursing - Candidates For This Position Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Long Term Care Facility Or With Geriatric Patients. This Experience Will Provide The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Care For Elderly Patients In A Long Term Care Setting.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills - As A Long Term Care Nurse, Effective Communication Is Crucial In Building Relationships With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Team Members. Candidates Should Possess Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills And Be Able To Work Well In A Team-Oriented Environment.
Ability To Work 12-Hour Night Shifts - This Position Requires The Nurse To Work 36 Hours Per Week, With Shifts From 7Pm To 7Am. Candidates Should Have The Physical And Mental Stamina To Work Long Hours And Be Able To Adapt To A Night Shift Schedule.
Familiarity With Electronic Medical Records (Emr) - Mainegeneral Health Utilizes Electronic Medical Records For Documentation And Patient Care. Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Emrs Or Be Able To Quickly Learn And Adapt To Using This Technology In Their Daily Work.
