Job Description

If so, MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Hospice Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Hospice RN, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our patients and their loved ones during their final journey. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled RN with a current Maine license and hospice experience.   1. Provide compassionate and high-quality nursing care to patients and their families facing end-of-life care.
  2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs to ensure comprehensive and holistic care.
  4. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with professional standards and hospice policies.
  5. Monitor and document patients' progress and response to treatment, making appropriate adjustments as needed.
  6. Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatments, and symptom management to promote understanding and self-care.
  7. Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and patient-centered care.
  8. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and provide input on patient care plans and goals.
  9. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  10. Adhere to all hospice regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
  11. Consistently demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and growth in knowledge and skills related to hospice care.
  12. Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, promoting their rights and wishes in the end-of-life care process.
  13. Collaborate with community resources and organizations to provide comprehensive care and support for patients and their families.
  14. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of MaineGeneral Health in all interactions and actions.

Job Qualifications
  • Active Rn License In The State Of Maine: The Hospice Registered Nurse Must Be Currently Licensed To Practice As A Registered Nurse In The State Of Maine.

  • Bsn Or Advanced Degree In Nursing: Mainegeneral Health Prefers Candidates With A Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Or Higher Degree In Nursing. This Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Dedication To The Nursing Profession.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Hospice Or Palliative Care Experience: Candidates Must Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In Hospice Or Palliative Care Settings, As This Role Requires Specialized Knowledge And Skills In End-Of-Life Care.

  • Certification In Hospice And Palliative Care: Candidates Must Hold A Certification In Hospice And Palliative Care, Such As The Certified Hospice And Palliative Nurse (Chpn) Certification. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Thorough Understanding Of The Principles And Practices Of Hospice Care.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Hospice Registered Nurse, The Ability To Effectively Communicate And Build Relationships With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Team Members Is Crucial. Candidates Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Excel In This Role.
