Job Description

  1. Operate and maintain complex boiler systems in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Monitor boiler performance and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal functioning.
  3. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise with the boiler systems.
  5. Maintain accurate records of boiler operations, maintenance, and repairs.
  6. Monitor and maintain appropriate fuel and water levels in the boilers.
  7. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols while operating the boilers.
  8. Collaborate with other maintenance and facilities staff to coordinate repairs and maintenance tasks.
  9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to boiler operation.
  10. Keep work area clean and organized at all times.
  11. Communicate any potential safety hazards or concerns to management.
  12. Train and mentor new employees on boiler operation procedures.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Basic Educational Qualification Is Necessary For A Boiler Operator Job At Mainegeneral Health. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Skills In Math, Science, And Mechanical Aptitude To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.

  • Boiler Operator's License: A Valid Boiler Operator's License Is Typically Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Undergone Training And Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Operate And Maintain Boilers Safely.

  • Experience In Boiler Operation: Prior Experience In Boiler Operation Is Preferred For This Role. This Includes Experience In Monitoring And Maintaining Boiler Systems, Troubleshooting Issues, And Ensuring Compliance With Safety Regulations.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Boiler Operators Should Have A Strong Mechanical Aptitude And Be Able To Understand And Work With Complex Machinery. They Should Possess The Ability To Read And Interpret Technical Manuals And Blueprints, As Well As Troubleshoot Mechanical Issues.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Skills Are Essential For A Boiler Operator At Mainegeneral Health. They Should Be Able To Communicate Clearly With Team Members, Supervisors, And Other Staff Regarding Maintenance Issues, Safety Concerns, And Operational Procedures. They Should Also Be Able To Document Maintenance And Repair Activities Accurately.
