Job Description

At M&T Bank, we are currently looking for a motivated and customer-minded individual to join our team as an RCC Associate Underwriter. This role requires a detailed-oriented individual with a passion for problem-solving and a drive to provide excellent customer service. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the residential lending process, a working knowledge of mortgage underwriting, and a commitment to ensuring operational accuracy. Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate loan applications to ensure they meet all applicable program guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  2. Analyze credit, income, and other required documentation to determine if the loan meets investor and agency guidelines.
  3. Make decisions regarding loan approvals, denials, and requests for additional documentation.
  4. Make recommendations to the Underwriting Manager or Credit Manager regarding loan exceptions.
  5. Adhere to all established policies and procedures, including those related to quality control.
  6. Maintain accurate and timely records of underwriting decisions.
  7. Communicate effectively with customers and other stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction.
  8. Provide customer service and support for inquiries related to the residential lending process.
  9. Monitor and review conditions of loans to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  10. Stay up-to-date with industry news and changes in regulations.
