Job Description

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Patent Attorney Manager to lead a dynamic team of attorneys and professionals in the legal department. This position requires a combination of strong legal experience, management skills, and a passion for innovation. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of patent law, with the ability to think strategically and manage effectively. They will demonstrate a commitment to the Laboratory’s mission and core values, and will be comfortable engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders from scientific, technical, and business backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with an excellent reputation and a track record of successfully managing a team of attorneys. Required Qualifications:• Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in good standing• 8+ years of progressively responsible legal experience, including 5+ years of patent law experience• Demonstrated leadership, management, and communication skills• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks• Knowledge of intellectual property law and best practices

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee, manage, and lead a team of patent attorneys and other legal professionals.
  2. Develop and implement effective strategies in order to maintain a high standard of legal practice.
  3. Provide legal advice and guidance to the Laboratory’s stakeholders on a variety of intellectual property matters.
  4. Identify and analyze legal issues, conduct legal research, and draft legal documents.
  5. Monitor changes in patent law and advise the Laboratory accordingly.
  6. Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Manage the budget and other resources allocated to the legal department.
  8. Foster an environment of innovation and creativity within the legal team.
  9. Maintain a commitment to the Laboratory’s mission and core values.
  10. Monitor team performance and provide feedback and guidance to ensure team success.

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills

  • Juris Doctorate Degree From An Aba-Accredited Law School

  • At Least Four Years Of Relevant Experience In Patent Prosecution And/Or Patent Litigation

  • Licensed To Practice Law In At Least One Us State
