- Work closely with experienced attorneys to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and challenging legal environment.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support attorneys in their cases and projects.
- Assist in drafting legal documents, including contracts, memoranda, and briefs.
- Attend meetings and hearings with attorneys to observe and participate in legal proceedings.
- Communicate with clients and other stakeholders to gather information and provide updates on legal matters.
- Help manage and organize legal documents and files.
- Collaborate with other interns and team members to complete projects and tasks.
- Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the General Counsel's office.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical standards and guidelines.
- Represent the General Counsel's office and Los Alamos National Laboratory in a positive and professional manner.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments.
- Contribute to the mission of the laboratory by providing high-quality legal support and services.
- Actively participate in training and development opportunities to enhance legal knowledge and skills.
Law Degree: The Office Of General Counsel Legal Graduate Intern Must Have Completed A Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School.
Strong Academic Record: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Academic Record, With A Minimum Gpa Of 3.0 Or Higher.
Legal Research And Writing Skills: The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Legal Research And Writing Skills, With A Demonstrated Ability To Analyze Complex Legal Issues And Draft Legal Documents.
Knowledge Of Government And Laboratory Operations: The Candidate Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Government Operations And Policies, As Well As Knowledge Of The Operations And Mission Of Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Interpersonal And Communication Skills: The Candidate Should Have Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Attorneys, Scientists, And Other Professionals At The Laboratory. Additionally, The Candidate Should Possess Strong Presentation Skills And Be Able To Effectively Communicate Legal Concepts To Non-Legal Audiences.
