- Conduct routine and specialized health physics analyses on samples from nuclear facilities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and protection of the environment.
- Perform instrumentation calibrations and maintenance to ensure accurate and precise measurements.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on health physics analyses, including data interpretation and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other health physics professionals and scientists to develop and implement new methods and techniques for analyzing samples.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and quality assurance protocols.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of health physics equipment and supplies.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of laboratory facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Train and mentor junior technicians on proper health physics techniques and procedures.
- Stay updated on current regulations and industry practices related to health physics and nuclear safety.
- Communicate and collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure effective and timely completion of projects.
- Participate in emergency response drills and provide support during actual emergencies.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety policies and procedures at all times.
Bachelor's Degree In Health Physics, Radiation Science, Or A Related Field.
Knowledge And Experience In Radiation Detection And Measurement Techniques.
Familiarity With Relevant Regulations And Standards, Such As Nrc And Doe Requirements.
Experience Operating And Maintaining Sophisticated Laboratory Equipment, Including Radiation Meters, Spectrometers, And Analytical Instruments.
Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team, With Strong Organizational And Communication Skills.
