Job Description

Los Alamos National Laboratory is looking for an experienced Fire Protection Engineering Technician to join our team. This individual will be responsible for providing engineering support and technical advice with regards to fire protection systems and safety policies. The ideal candidate should have a thorough understanding of fire protection engineering principles, as well as strong problem-solving and communication skills. The successful candidate will be an essential part of the team, helping to ensure the safety and security of our facility.Qualifications include:• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience• 5+ years of experience in the field of fire protection engineering• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant code requirements, standards, and best practices• Ability to work with a diverse team of professionals• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at any given timeIf you have the qualifications and the passion for this role, we look forward to hearing from you!

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide engineering support and technical advice for fire protection systems and safety policies.
  2. Develop and maintain fire protection engineering plans and procedures.
  3. Monitor and evaluate the design, installation, and operation of fire protection systems.
  4. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and best practices.
  5. Provide training and guidance to personnel on fire protection engineering principles.
  6. Identify potential fire hazards and implement corrective action plans.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with outside organizations, vendors, and contractors.
  8. Assist with fire protection system inspections and testing.
  9. Prepare reports, briefs, and other documentation related to fire protection engineering.
  10. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant safety and security regulations.
