
Experimental Materials Scientist
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Experimental Materials Scientist to join our team. As an Experimental Materials Scientist, you will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments that explore materials properties and structure.The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Materials Science or a related field, with experience in developing materials with high-tech applications. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of physical chemistry principles and materials characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. They should also have a solid understanding of the physical and chemical properties of materials, as well as experience in designing and conducting experiments. Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct experiments that explore materials properties and structure.
- Utilize physical chemistry principles and materials characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy.
- Analyze data from experiments to draw conclusions and develop hypotheses.
- Develop materials with high-tech applications.
- Communicate results and findings to colleagues and management.
- Work with other departments to ensure experiments are conducted according to safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during experiments.
- Keep up to date with advances in materials science and technology.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of experiments.
