Job Description

We are looking for a talented and self-motivated Criticality Safety Analyst to join the team at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This position provides an opportunity to become part of a highly specialized and unique safety team that is focused on protecting both personnel and the environment from the potential hazards of nuclear operations. The Criticality Safety Analyst will work with an experienced team to assess and evaluate the safety of nuclear operations and ensure that all safety protocols are followed. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as safety engineering, nuclear engineering, or radiation protection, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team. This position requires knowledge of nuclear safety principles and programs, as well as an understanding of nuclear criticality safety. We’re looking for an individual who is passionate about safety and is committed to making sure that all safety standards are met.

Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate and assess the safety of nuclear operations and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
  2. Develop and maintain safety protocols and procedures.
  3. Monitor nuclear operations and safety activities.
  4. Provide guidance and direction to other personnel on safety matters.
  5. Investigate and analyze safety incidents and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  6. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
  7. Prepare and present reports on safety performance and criticality safety assessments.
  8. Develop and implement training programs for personnel on safety issues.
  9. Collaborate with other departments to ensure safety standards are met.
  10. Remain up to date on advances in nuclear safety technology and regulatory requirements.
