
Community Outreach Specialist
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Outreach Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will lead initiatives to build and maintain strong relationships with local and regional stakeholders to ensure effective communication and outreach for the Laboratory. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a passion for community engagement, and a commitment to the Laboratory's mission. To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, plus at least 5 years of experience in community outreach or related activities. Experience in media relations, public speaking, and graphic design are a plus. You must also have strong writing skills, the ability to quickly build relationships, and a knack for problem-solving. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various locations in the region is also required.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to build and maintain relationships with local and regional stakeholders
- Facilitate effective communication and outreach for the Laboratory
- Provide public relations and media relations support
- Coordinate public speaking engagements for the Laboratory
- Develop and design communications materials and resources
- Manage and maintain the Laboratory's community outreach activities
- Quickly build relationships with local and regional stakeholders
- Troubleshoot and solve community outreach issues
- Travel to various locations in the region to build relationships and engage stakeholders
- Utilize strong writing and problem-solving skills
