Job Description

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead a team of professionals responsible for protecting the Laboratory’s systems and data. The CISO will lead and implement the information security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the Laboratory is compliant with federal regulations, industry best practices, and organizational security requirements. The successful candidate must have significant experience in information security, technical knowledge of cyber defense, risk management, and a strong understanding of the federal regulatory landscape. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cyber security and a commitment to maintaining the security of the Laboratory’s data and systems.

Responsibilities for this position:

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive information security strategy for the Laboratory.
  2. Ensure the Laboratory is compliant with all relevant federal regulations and industry best practices.
  3. Monitor and analyze security threats and vulnerabilities, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  4. Lead a team of information security professionals in the implementation of security procedures and protocols.
  5. Establish and maintain security policies and procedures to ensure the protection of data and systems.
  6. Monitor and audit security systems to identify potential issues or risks.
  7. Work with other departments to ensure the security objectives are met.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and regulatory agencies.
  9. Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve security posture.
  10. Investigate security incidents and develop plans to prevent future occurrences.
