Job Description

The Applied Modeling and Simulation Engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory is a key contributor to the mission of the laboratory. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in applied modeling and simulation, with a keen interest in research and development.The Applied Modeling and Simulation Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and running simulations and models to analyze and predict the behavior of complex systems. They will work closely with other scientists and engineers to develop, test, and validate new models and simulations.The ideal candidate for this position should have a Master's degree or higher in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field. They should have experience with numerical simulations and modeling, including experience with a variety of software packages. They should also be able to work effectively in a team environment and have excellent communication and organizational skills. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working independently and has the ability to multitask.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain simulations and models to analyze and predict the behavior of complex systems.
  2. Work closely with scientists and engineers to develop, test, and validate new models and simulations.
  3. Use a variety of software packages to conduct numerical simulations and modeling.
  4. Work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with other team members.
  5. Organize and prioritize tasks to effectively complete projects and initiatives.
  6. Work independently and manage several tasks simultaneously.
  7. Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in applied modeling and simulation.
