Job Description

As an Above Ground Storage Tank Inspector at Los Alamos National Laboratory, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our storage tank infrastructure. You will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, identifying potential hazards, and making recommendations for maintenance and repairs.   1. Conduct thorough inspections of above ground storage tanks to identify any potential hazards or issues.
  2. Utilize knowledge and expertise in tank inspection to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  3. Create detailed inspection reports and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
  4. Make recommendations for maintenance and repairs based on inspection results.
  5. Develop and maintain a schedule for regular tank inspections to ensure ongoing safety and efficiency.
  6. Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and maintenance personnel, to address any identified issues or concerns.
  7. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices for above ground storage tank inspection.
  8. Monitor and track maintenance and repair activities to ensure timely completion and proper documentation.
  9. Identify and implement improvements to the inspection process to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  10. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all inspection activities and findings.
  11. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while conducting inspections and working around storage tanks.
  12. Serve as a subject matter expert on above ground storage tank inspection and provide training and guidance to other team members as needed.
  13. Represent the organization in a professional manner and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Above Ground Storage Tank Regulations: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Federal And State Regulations Related To Above Ground Storage Tanks, Including Api 653, Api 650, And Osha Regulations.

  • Experience In Tank Inspection: The Candidate Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Conducting Inspections Of Above Ground Storage Tanks, Including Visual, Non-Destructive Testing (Ndt), And Ultrasonic Thickness Measurements.

  • Familiarity With Non-Destructive Testing Techniques: The Candidate Should Be Proficient In Using Various Ndt Techniques Such As Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, And Radiography To Assess The Integrity Of Above Ground Storage Tanks.

  • Technical Writing Skills: The Candidate Should Have Excellent Technical Writing Skills To Produce Detailed Inspection Reports And Recommendations For Corrective Actions.

  • Safety And Environmental Awareness: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Safety Protocols And Environmental Regulations Related To Above Ground Storage Tanks, As Well As Experience In Implementing These Protocols In The Field.
