- Transport patients to and from the operating room in a safe and timely manner.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during transportation.
- Follow proper protocols and procedures for patient transfers, including using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide updates and address any concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including ensuring equipment is properly cleaned and stored.
- Assist with patient preparation for surgery, such as positioning and transferring to the operating table.
- Collaborate with nurses and surgical staff to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare personnel.
- Adhere to infection control and safety standards at all times.
- Provide emotional support and compassion to patients and their families during transport.
- Assist with stocking and inventory of supplies and equipment in the operating room.
- Attend required trainings and meetings to maintain knowledge and skills in patient transport and operating room procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For An Operating Room Assistant Special Transport Job At Lifebridge Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Shows A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of Fundamental Concepts Necessary For The Job.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates With Prior Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In An Operating Room, Will Be Preferred For This Role. This Experience Demonstrates An Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Equipment, And Procedures.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As An Operating Room Assistant Special Transport, You Will Be Responsible For Transporting Patients To And From The Operating Room. Having A Bls Certification Ensures That You Are Trained In Basic Life-Saving Techniques And Can Handle Any Emergency Situations That May Arise.
Physical Stamina And Ability To Lift Heavy Objects: This Job Involves A Lot Of Physical Activity, Such As Pushing And Pulling Stretchers, Lifting And Moving Patients, And Standing For Extended Periods. Therefore, Candidates Must Be Physically Fit And Able To Meet The Demands Of The Job.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: The Ability To Work Well In A Team And Communicate Effectively With Other Healthcare Professionals Is Essential For This Job.
