- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, including curriculum development, resident scheduling, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure the program meets accreditation standards and maintains a high level of excellence.
- Recruit, train, and mentor residents, providing guidance and support throughout their training.
- Collaborate with other departments and physicians within LifeBridge Health to coordinate and integrate resident education with patient care.
- Create and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment for residents, promoting a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and compassion.
- Conduct regular evaluations and provide feedback to residents to help them achieve their educational and professional goals.
- Work with the Graduate Medical Education Committee to develop and revise policies and procedures for the residency program.
- Stay current with advancements in internal medicine and incorporate new techniques and technologies into the residency curriculum.
- Foster relationships with community organizations and medical schools to recruit top-quality residents and enhance the program's reputation.
- Serve as a liaison between the residency program and the hospital administration, communicating any concerns or issues that arise.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements related to the residency program.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve and innovate the residency program, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Act as a role model for residents, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Participate in scholarly activities and research projects related to internal medicine, encouraging and supporting residents' involvement in these endeavors.
- Represent the residency program at conferences, meetings, and other professional events to promote the program and recruit potential candidates.
Board Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Be Board Certified In Internal Medicine And Possess A Thorough Understanding Of The Field And Its Latest Developments.
Leadership Experience: The Program Director Should Have Prior Experience In A Leadership Role, Preferably In A Residency Program, To Effectively Manage And Guide Residents And Faculty.
Strong Communication Skills: As The Primary Point Of Contact For Residents, Faculty, And Other Stakeholders, The Program Director Should Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills.
Educational Background: A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution And A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Teaching And/Or Mentorship Are Typically Required For This Position.
Commitment To Quality Improvement: The Program Director Should Have A Track Record Of Implementing Quality Improvement Initiatives And Maintaining High Standards Of Education And Training In The Residency Program.
