Job Description

LifeBridge Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Domestic Violence Victim Advocate to join our team. As an advocate, you will play a crucial role in providing advocacy, support, and resources to individuals who have experienced domestic violence. We are looking for individuals who are empathetic, non-judgmental, and committed to promoting safety and healing for survivors.   1. Provide direct advocacy and support to survivors of domestic violence in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
  2. Collaborate with other members of the team to develop and implement safety plans for survivors.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments of survivors' needs and connect them with appropriate resources and services.
  4. Assist survivors in navigating legal and medical systems, including accompanying them to court and appointments as needed.
  5. Offer emotional support and crisis intervention to survivors in a trauma-informed manner.
  6. Educate survivors on their rights and options, empowering them to make informed decisions for themselves.
  7. Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.
  8. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay informed on best practices for supporting survivors of domestic violence.
  9. Collaborate with community partners and agencies to ensure a coordinated response to domestic violence cases.
  10. Advocate for policy and systemic changes to better support and protect survivors of domestic violence.
  11. Attend team and staff meetings to provide updates and insights on survivor needs and progress.
  12. Uphold ethical standards and boundaries when working with survivors.
  13. Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for the organization's mission and values.
  14. Provide outreach and education to the community on domestic violence prevention and resources.
  15. Support survivors in their journey towards safety, healing, and self-sufficiency.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Domestic Violence: A Strong Understanding Of The Dynamics And Impact Of Domestic Violence, As Well As The Resources Available For Survivors, Is Crucial For A Domestic Violence Victim Advocate At Lifebridge Health.

  • Crisis Intervention Skills: The Ability To Effectively And Compassionately Respond To Individuals In Crisis Is Essential For This Role. This Includes Active Listening, De-Escalation Techniques, And Providing Emotional Support.

  • Advocacy Experience: Previous Experience In Advocating For Survivors Of Domestic Violence, Whether In A Healthcare Setting Or With A Community-Based Organization, Is Highly Desirable.

  • Cultural Competency: Lifebridge Health Serves A Diverse Population, And The Ability To Work With Individuals From Different Backgrounds And Cultures Is Important For Providing Effective Support To Survivors.

  • Communication And Collaboration: Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Necessary For Working With A Multidisciplinary Team, Including Healthcare Providers, Law Enforcement, And Community Partners, To Ensure The Safety And Well-Being Of Survivors.
