
CHILD LIFE SPECIALIST - OUTPATIENT CLINIC

- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate activities and interventions to help pediatric patients cope with medical procedures and treatments.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to create individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
- Provide emotional support and education to families and caregivers to help them understand and support their child's medical experience.
- Assess the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families and provide appropriate interventions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and progress.
- Coordinate and facilitate play groups and activities to promote socialization and development for pediatric patients.
- Educate and train hospital staff on child development and how to effectively support pediatric patients.
- Collaborate with community resources to provide additional support and resources for pediatric patients and their families.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide input on patient care.
- Stay current on research and best practices in child development and incorporate into practice.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients within the healthcare setting.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for pediatric patients and their families.
- Provide guidance and support to families on how to continue supporting their child's development after medical treatment.
- Continuously evaluate and modify interventions to best meet the needs of pediatric patients and their families.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards in all interactions with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field.
Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Child Life Certification Commission.
Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience In A Pediatric Healthcare Setting, Preferably In An Outpatient Clinic.
Strong Understanding Of Child Development And The Impact Of Illness And Hospitalization On Children And Families.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Emotional Support To Children And Families.
