- Perform daily cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of medical equipment and supplies according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Inspect and test all equipment and instruments for functionality and proper sterilization before use.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of supplies in the Central Sterile department.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of sterile equipment and supplies for patient care.
- Follow infection control protocols to prevent cross-contamination and maintain a sterile environment.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Stay updated on industry standards and best practices for sterilization techniques and equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Train and mentor new Central Sterile Techs on proper sterilization procedures and techniques.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with maintaining departmental accreditation.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow all hospital policies and procedures, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Provide exceptional customer service and care to patients, families, and staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Sterilization And Decontamination Skills: The Candidate Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Sterilization Techniques, Decontamination Procedures, And Infection Control Protocols To Ensure The Safe Handling And Processing Of Medical Equipment.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Equipment: Familiarity With Medical Terminology, Surgical Instruments, And Medical Equipment Is Essential For A Central Sterile Tech Ii To Accurately Identify, Clean, And Sterilize Instruments.
Certification And Training: Candidates Should Have A Valid Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Certification And At Least 2 Years Of Experience In A Central Sterile Processing Department. Additional Training In Infection Control, Aseptic Techniques, And Hazardous Materials Handling Is Preferred.
Attention To Detail: The Role Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Ensure The Proper Assembly And Packaging Of Medical Equipment, Accurate Documentation, And Adherence To Strict Quality Control Standards.
Communication And Teamwork: Strong Communication Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Collaborate With Medical Staff, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. The Candidate Should Also Be Able To Work Well In A Team Environment To Meet The Demands Of A Fast-Paced Healthcare Setting.
