- Conduct and analyze sleep studies using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Monitor patients during sleep studies to ensure accuracy of data collection.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information, including sleep study results and treatment plans.
- Educate patients on sleep disorders, treatment options, and healthy sleep habits.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Administer and calibrate sleep study equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during sleep studies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on advancements in sleep medicine and technology.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.

Education And Training In Polysomnography: A Qualified Candidate For A Polysom Technician Job At Legacy Health Should Have A Minimum Of An Associate's Degree In Polysomnography Or A Related Field From An Accredited Program. They Should Also Have Completed A Comprehensive Training Program In Sleep Technology.
Certification: Candidates Should Have A Current Certification In Polysomnography From A Recognized Certifying Body, Such As The Board Of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (Brpt).
Experience: Previous Experience In A Sleep Center Or Laboratory Setting Is Preferred For This Role. Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Sleep Disorders, Diagnostic Equipment, And Patient Care In A Sleep Setting.
Technical Skills: A Polysom Technician Should Possess Strong Technical Skills And Be Proficient In The Use Of Diagnostic Equipment, Such As Electroencephalography (Eeg), Electromyography (Emg), And Electrocardiography (Ecg).
Communication And Teamwork: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication Skills And Be Able To Work Well In A Team Environment. They Should Also Have The Ability To Interact With Patients In A Compassionate And Professional Manner, As Well As Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals To Provide High-Quality Patient Care.
