
Medical Assistant - Surgical Oncology

In this role, you will provide support to our physicians and patients, ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of care during their cancer journey. - Greet and welcome patients and their families with a warm and friendly demeanor.
- Assist physicians and other medical staff with various procedures and treatments.
- Prepare and maintain patient records, including medical history, vital signs, and test results.
- Collect and process patient specimens for laboratory testing.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate and schedule appointments and procedures for patients.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sterilizing equipment and ensuring proper disposal of medical waste.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy is maintained at all times.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Monitor and restock medical supplies and equipment as needed.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during their cancer journey.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, filing, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Attend trainings and stay updated on current medical procedures and techniques.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure the best possible care for patients.
- Uphold the values and mission of Legacy Health in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
Formal Education And Certification: A Successful Candidate For The Medical Assistant - Surgical Oncology Role At Legacy Health Should Have Completed A Formal Education Program In Medical Assisting And Possess A Valid Certification Such As The Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Or Registered Medical Assistant (Rma).
Knowledge Of Surgical Oncology Procedures: The Job Requires A Thorough Understanding Of Surgical Oncology Procedures, Including Pre-Operative And Post-Operative Care, Medication Administration, And Equipment Operation.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Surgical Oncology. This Will Demonstrate Their Familiarity With Medical Terminology, Patient Care, And Medical Procedures.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Medical Assistant In Surgical Oncology, The Candidate Will Be Interacting With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis. Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential To Effectively Communicate With Different Individuals And Work Collaboratively As Part Of A Team.
Attention To Detail And Ability To Multitask: The Job Requires The Ability To Handle Multiple Tasks Simultaneously While Maintaining A High Level Of Accuracy And Attention To Detail. The Candidate Should Have Excellent Organizational And Time-Management Skills To Ensure The Smooth And Efficient Flow Of Patient Care In A Fast-Paced Surgical Oncology Environment.
