- Provide emotional and psychological support to pediatric patients and their families during hospitalization.
- Utilize knowledge of child development and therapeutic play to help children cope with medical procedures and hospitalization.
- Collaborate with healthcare team to develop individualized plans of care for pediatric patients.
- Facilitate play and recreational activities to promote normalcy and reduce stress for patients.
- Conduct assessments of child and family needs and provide appropriate interventions.
- Educate and prepare patients and families for medical procedures and potential outcomes.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients and their families within the healthcare system.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and progress.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and progress.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and stay updated on current research and best practices in Child Life.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and hospital staff.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as the Child Life Code of Ethics.
- Promote a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to enhance the Child Life program.
- Serve as a resource and provide support to other healthcare professionals regarding child development and coping strategies.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Or Related Field
Certification As A Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Children And Families In A Healthcare Setting
Knowledge Of Child Development, Family Systems, And Psychosocial Support For Children And Families In Healthcare Environments
Strong Communication, Interpersonal, And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team.
