
Unit Secretary

- Greet and welcome patients, families, and visitors to the unit with a warm and friendly demeanor, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- Provide administrative support to nursing staff, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including admissions, transfers, and discharges, in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and facility policies.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring effective communication and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Assist in coordinating and scheduling patient procedures, tests, and appointments, as directed by nursing staff and physicians.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of unit supplies and equipment, notifying appropriate personnel when items need to be replenished or replaced.
- Ensure that patient rooms and common areas are kept clean and organized, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
- Collaborate with other unit secretaries and healthcare team members to ensure efficient and effective operations of the unit.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain compliance with healthcare laws and standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on healthcare regulations and processes, and to enhance job performance.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Unit Secretary At Kindred Healthcare Should Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates For This Role Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably As A Unit Secretary Or In A Similar Administrative Role.
Excellent Organizational Skills: As A Unit Secretary, Candidates Must Have Strong Organizational Skills To Manage Multiple Tasks And Responsibilities, Such As Scheduling Appointments, Maintaining Records, And Coordinating With Various Departments.
Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Crucial In A Healthcare Setting, And A Unit Secretary Must Be Able To Communicate Clearly And Professionally With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: Familiarity With Medical Terminology And Procedures Is Essential For A Unit Secretary To Accurately Record And Relay Information, As Well As Understand And Interpret Medical Orders And Documents.
