In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our unit by providing administrative support to our nursing staff and maintaining accurate patient records.   1. Greet and welcome patients, families, and visitors to the unit with a warm and friendly demeanor, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
  2. Provide administrative support to nursing staff, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including admissions, transfers, and discharges, in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and facility policies.
  4. Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring effective communication and addressing any concerns or questions.
  5. Assist in coordinating and scheduling patient procedures, tests, and appointments, as directed by nursing staff and physicians.
  6. Monitor and maintain inventory of unit supplies and equipment, notifying appropriate personnel when items need to be replenished or replaced.
  7. Ensure that patient rooms and common areas are kept clean and organized, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
  8. Collaborate with other unit secretaries and healthcare team members to ensure efficient and effective operations of the unit.
  9. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain compliance with healthcare laws and standards.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on healthcare regulations and processes, and to enhance job performance.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Unit Secretary At Kindred Healthcare Should Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates For This Role Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably As A Unit Secretary Or In A Similar Administrative Role.

  • Excellent Organizational Skills: As A Unit Secretary, Candidates Must Have Strong Organizational Skills To Manage Multiple Tasks And Responsibilities, Such As Scheduling Appointments, Maintaining Records, And Coordinating With Various Departments.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Crucial In A Healthcare Setting, And A Unit Secretary Must Be Able To Communicate Clearly And Professionally With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: Familiarity With Medical Terminology And Procedures Is Essential For A Unit Secretary To Accurately Record And Relay Information, As Well As Understand And Interpret Medical Orders And Documents.
