  1. Provide emotional support to cancer patients and their families, helping them cope with the challenges of their illness.
  2. Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are protected.
  3. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' psychosocial needs and develop individualized care plans.
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  5. Connect patients and their families with appropriate resources, such as financial assistance, support groups, and counseling services.
  6. Provide counseling and crisis intervention to patients and their families.
  7. Monitor and document patients' progress and make appropriate referrals as needed.
  8. Educate patients and their families on coping strategies and resources available to them.
  9. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions.
  10. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss patients' care and progress.
  11. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in cancer treatment and support.
  12. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the field of social work.
  13. Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to improve access to resources for cancer patients.
  14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to social work in oncology.
  15. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Social Work: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Social Work Is Required For This Position, Demonstrating A Deep Understanding Of Social Work Principles And Practices.

  • Oncology Experience: Previous Experience Working With Oncology Patients And Their Families Is Highly Preferred, As It Shows A Familiarity With The Unique Challenges And Needs Of This Population.

  • Licensure: Candidates Must Possess A Valid Social Work License From The State Of Ohio, Or Be Eligible To Obtain One Within A Specified Timeframe.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Healthcare Teams Is Essential In This Role. Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills Are A Must.

  • Empathy And Compassion: Social Workers In Oncology Must Possess A Strong Sense Of Empathy And Compassion To Effectively Support Patients And Their Families Through Difficult Times. A Genuine Desire To Help Others Is Essential For Success In This Role.
